"For Rebdolls, sizing inclusivity is not a trend; it's the bare minimum. We want to innovate and create amazing collections that make you feel gorgeous. As we scale the brand, we are putting our focus on fit to ensure that when you open a package your only concern is if you like it; not if it fits." -- Grisel, CEO of REBDOLLS

Q. How did Rebdolls come to be?
My path to starting Rebdolls was definitely not a straight line. I went to college for criminal justice and as a side job to pay for my student loans I got into plus size modeling. I quickly started working for dozens of retailers modeling their plus size range and as a woman that constantly straddled the line between being a large and a 1x I realized how limited the options were for trendy plus size clothing. I decided that I wanted to start a company that focused on fashion forward trends that would not stop at a size large. I started small, selling t-shirts on Etsy - but it wasn't until I added dresses and two piece sets that the brand really exploded into what it is today.
Q. Did you ever think about giving up?
I wanted to give up way too many times to count! When I started the brand I knew nothing about fashion. I had to teach myself everything from coding my own website to supply chain & logistics. I never had any funding and scaling the brand was a big hurdle for me, I knew everything I wanted to do but always felt like there were too many barriers. Rebdolls has had such a supportive and loyal customer base and I always felt like I would be disappointing so many people, so I pushed through. I stayed focused on the reason why I started the brand, instead of all the hurdles.
Q. Where did the name REBDOLLS come from?
When I started Rebdolls brands like Dolls Kill & Nasty Gal were really at the forefront of dope, non cookie-cutter e-commerce brands. I wanted to create something unapologetic that was not limited by small size ranges. I wrote down hundreds of name ideas and one night a light bulb came on: Rebel Dolls; in short REBDOLLS.
Q. What's the most important message about the brand you want people to resonate with the most?
For Rebdolls, sizing inclusivity is not a trend; it's the bare minimum. We want to innovate and create amazing collections that make you feel gorgeous. As we scale the brand, we are putting our focus on fit to ensure that when you open a package your only concern is if you like it; not if it fits.
Q. What advice would you give other modern CEO's?
Focus on your why and don’t try to copy anyone's playbook. There's a million ways to be successful and the way brands grew before is not the same way they will grow tomorrow.
Q. Lastly, what's next?
Everything! We have so much planned at Rebdolls. We will be exploring new categories, working with more of your favorite influencers, and we will keep bringing you the fashion that you love!
